Liberty Diesel Performance · Pulling Team

It’s Only Money

Our own truck is the rolling test bench. Everything we build for customers - transmissions, turbos, fuel, tuning - goes on this truck first and proves itself on the hook in front of a grandstand.

The Truck

Built, not bought

It's Only Money is a full-weight diesel pull truck - white, low, and honest about what it is: a shop truck that got serious. Every time it leaves the line it is validating the same parts, clearances and tuning we put in customer builds.

Build a truck like this

Liberty's Full Send Custom Transmissions

You can build all the horsepower you want, but getting it to the rear wheel is a whole nother story. We can build you a custom transmission to get every bit of that horsepower transferred from the wheel to the road.

The Sport

What tractor pulling actually is

Truck and tractor pulling is one of the oldest motorsports in America, and it is the simplest idea in racing: hook up, hold on, and get as far down the track as the truck can before the load stops it.

How a run works

  1. You back into the sled and hook to the drawbar. The sled is a weighted transfer trailer - the load starts light and gets heavier as it moves forward.
  2. The sled's box creeps toward the front as it travels, so the further you go, the more weight you are dragging.
  3. You get one shot. When the sled stops you, the distance is measured - that's your pull.
  4. Reach the full length of the track and that's a full pull. Ties then go to a pull-off, where the sled is loaded harder and the winner is whoever goes furthest.

What the classes mean

Classes exist to keep it fair. Trucks are grouped by weight, by how far you are allowed to go with fuel and air, and by turbo rules - street-legal diesel trucks sit in one class, all-out competition builds in another. You will see class names like work stock, street diesel, Pro Street, 2.6 and 3.0 - the numbers refer to the size allowed on the turbo.

Weight limits are strict and the truck is weighed in. A sled weighs a lot more than the truck pulling it, so everything you have built has to survive several seconds of maximum load.

Why it breaks trucks

Nothing else loads a diesel like a sled. There is no wheelspin to save you and no gear to bail into when the load climbs - just full torque against a dead weight. That is why pulling is such a brutal test of a transmission, torque converter, cooling and tune.

Build it to live on the hook and it lives everywhere else: on the trailer, in the field and on the highway.
